About
The Detlef Schrempf Foundation, and how it started....

In 1993, after playing professional basketball in Dallas and Indiana for eight years, Detlef Schrempf and his family landed back in Seattle, Washington. In 1994 Detlef, now with the Seattle Sonics, agreed to host a celebrity golf tournament for three years, benefiting Boyer Children’s Clinic. By 1995, Detlef and his wife Mari realized the impact special event fundraising could bring to a community. In 1996 the Detlef Schrempf Foundation was formed.

With very little knowledge of how to begin, but with a lot of heart and effort, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation generated an enormous amount of interest and support. Over the past decade, the foundation has produced a variety of fundraising events including, golf tournaments, gala and auctions, celebrity dinners and functions, family festivals, benefit concerts, basketball tournaments and basketball camps – not to mention numerous personal appearances and autograph sessions. To date, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation has raised over $8-million for Northwest charities and another $2-million in trade relationships.

The Schrempf’s level of dedication and enthusiasm for giving back to their community is only matched by their love of this city they call home.

The Detlef Schrempf Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization. Federal Tax ID Number: 91-1723526.
