| WHAT WE DO |
The Detlef Schrempf Foundation board and staff work year-round to produce unique and entertaining special events for Northwest children’s charities. All events are supported by a dedicated team of charity staff and board members, volunteers, sponsors and friends.
The variety of events has changed over the years, including restaurant grand openings, celebrity dinners and Blackjack tournaments, basketball camps and tournaments, family festivals, concerts, wine parties, holiday parties, cruises and shopping events.
The Foundation “main events” are the St. Patrick’s Day Dash in March, the Celebrity Golf and Gala Weekend in June, and the Bellevue Nordstrom Fall Fashion Show in September.
The Detlef Schrempf Foundation has served over 100 charities since 1996, with over $11-million raised.
| WHO WE FUND |
The Detlef Schrempf Foundation is unique, and not considered a typical “granting” organization. The process of selecting charity beneficiaries is dependent of a number of factors, usually related to the fundraising event that is being produced. In most instances the foundation is looking for organizations that can lend their support in the overall success of the event. Thus, being a contributing factor in their own fundraising success.
The St. Patrick’s Day Dash mainly benefits Camp Fire Central Puget Sound Council, Rise n’ Shine, Seattle Children’s Autism Center and The Healing Center. Any remaining funds from the Dash go to a carefully selected pool of charities.
Rise n’ Shine and The Healing Center are the beneficiaries of the Celebrity Golf and Gala Weekend. Rise n’ Shine has been involved in the Gala since 1997, and The Healing Center joined the event in 2009.
The Bellevue Nordstrom Fall Fashion Show rotates a new charity to benefit each year. The charity selection process is between Nordstrom and the Detlef Schrempf Foundation.
